Already planning for the fall..

Hey all,

Moderate homebrewer here, just wish I had more time to invest! I am planning on brewing 5 gallons of Oktoberfest for a neighborhood party that is happening in, you guessed it, October. I actually plan on adding some pumpkin extract in the secondary. I'm seeking a good Oktoberfest recipe that will yield me 5 gallons. I do not have a mash tun so I want to brew in a bag. Anyone have a particular recipe they would like to share? Thanks!

Just FYI Oktoberfest is techincally in September.

The recipes usually don't chance from 3 Vessel to BIAB, it depends on efficiency of your specific system.

Are you planning on lagering or using an ale yeast? I would higly recommend BierMuncher's OktoberFAST http://https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f63/biermunchers-oktoberfast-ale-ag-39021/ if you dont have lagering capability.

I've never used Pumpkin Extract, but I have used actual pumpkin and it doesnt add much flavor in the finished product.

Are you just looking to make something different, or do you want a pumpkin flavor? Most people use pumpkin spices to get that flavor. I personally wouldnt deviate too much on an Oktoberfest.
