Hey guys and gals... I found this All Grain page and I'm sure some of you have seen it before. I had a couple of questions on it.... here is the page:
http://www3.telus.net/sockmonkeysandbeer/beer/HowIBrew/howIbrew.html
As you see he appears to use two pots, one brewpot he started with and a large canning pot. I actually have a canning pot of this size
I never thought that I could do AG by using two pots.....
In the 8th paragraph down he talks about lautering and sparging. He lauters to the first pot and runs out of liquid in the turn, thus starts sparging which ends up on the second pot. How good is this method? These pictures of his kitchen are basically a spitting image of mine. Would this method be batch sparging?
I am guessing that becuase he cools each pot seperatly before siphoning to the carboy he does not get in the problem of aeriation....
So basically I was wondering what your thoughts of this method are? Is this a sound method for someone in a kitchen of this size to do AG?
