Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to home brewing. I have done a few liquid extract kits and partial grain cooks, but I am really wanting to start all grain brewing and most likely 1 gallon batches because I want to do it more often. I have a few questions if anyone could help me out. I bought a turkey fryer for cooking with a 30 quart aluminum pot. Just wondering if it's worth adding a thermometer and valve to make it a "kettle" also I am going to make a mash tun but I don't know if a 5 gallon would be to big for 1 gallon batches. And finally if anyone has any good recipes!! Thanks!!

I'm not too sure about this, but I don't really think you would need a thermometer in the boil kettle because you would only need it to boil.

As for the mash tun, I think a 5 gallon one would be fine in case you decide to make bigger batches in the future. I'm also a new brewer (just did my first 2 weeks ago) and here's my advice on putting on a thermometer... place it low. I positioned mine a bit too high and the water is not touching the probe at all prior to dumping to the malt in :(

You should look into brew in a bag with such a small volume.

You don't need those things, but the ball valve is something I would do. It helps a lot.
