I've got to try a few all citra IPA's (strickly for educational purposes obviously) and was wondering what other people thought of this hop. I didn't get the "cat piss" aroma or flavor that I've heard from other people experimenting with it.

Also while it has that tropical fruit flavor, I think it comes through very complex. I have only used it in conjunction with other hops in my home brewing but was wondering if anyone has had great success with a single hop citra.

This comes down to me ordering a pound of citra and debating whether I should go all citra or ration it. :D

I get cattiness from Summit, but not Citra.

I've been doing a series of SMaSH APAs and IPAs. I've done Summit and Columbus and plan to do Citra, Warrior, and Sorachi Ace. I want a chance to familiarize myself with all of these hops before I build more complex recipes.

I bought the Sorachi Ace version of Mikkeller's single hop IPA and will try that tomorrow night!

I have been curious about that hop too and was excited it was right next to citra. If you find one of Mikkeller's single hop beers, they are done well - highly recommended.

I have never done an all Citra brew, but have done several with Citra as a component. I think it is one of those hops that plays well with others. I do a Centenial, Citra, Amarillo ale that is great. I had to cut back the Citra to make it work, but in the right combo it is great.

Under my notes for an all citra ipa, "like drinking a glass of fresh flowers."
