I humbly ask for some clarification. I apologize if this has been asked, i searched and couldn't find it anywhere. I just brewed a batch of Irish Red Ale extract kit (northern brewery 5 gal) and when i put the lid and air lock on the bucket all the sani/water in the air lock went to one side( it is a "S" desigin air lock. Is this normal?

As long as you filled it to the line its fine. The air lock should bubble once fermentation begins. Gasses will push from one side if the airlock until the pressure pushes the water to one side. The air lock will then bubble, relieving the pressure, and some of the water will move back to the other side. This will repeat over and over again.

Yeah, as the pressure inside the carboy increases it pushes the water to the other bubble. When the air fills the thin bottom tube it'll burp the air out and the liquid will refill some. . . rinse and repeat over and over as it ferments.
