Hi Brewers,
I want to do something smoked, but not a porter or stout. Was looking at AHS smoked Ale kit, or their Creamy Smoked Amber.

Was wondering if anybody has tried the session series "Smoked Ale" before? I am thinking of ordering that, plus, getting 1 or 2 pounds of their Mesquite 2 row malt, my finished result should be a Mesquite Smoked Ale. How does this sound? Or would it be too much of a smokey flavor with the added malt?

I do a lot of BBQ here, and also smoke meat in my electric smoker. Thanks for your comments and or advice!

Actually, the mesquite smoked malt sounds like it would lend the right spice to pit/smoker bbq. I'm into pit bbq myself,& found red ales (like Killian's) goes good with ribs. So a red or amber rouchbier should go nicely, imho.
