I age in the basement at around 50 - 55 degrees. Not real scientific and I have had great results.

Are you talking about after carbonation is complete? The rule of thumb during carbonation is 21 days @ 70*F. I personally wait more like 42 days...I think a lot of people go ahead and chill to style-appropriate drinking temps after that.

I figured that i needed to keep it at fermenting temp until it was properly carbonated. and was wondering after it had plenty of time to carbonate should i put it in the fridge??

What works for me is to leave my bottles to carb up at 70*F and then move them to my garage where it is generally much cooler. From there I rotate a 6 or 12 pack to the fridge each week(depending on how much I plan to drink) and let them chill for about a week or more before consuming or sharing.

I know some folks have a dedicated fridge for homebrew and just move the whole quantity to chill all at once. Everyone has their own technique so I think you'll be fine to experiment to find out what works best for you. As long as you let them carb up I believe you'll be fine to do whatever as long as it's not freezing or boiling. ;)

I know! Our Falcons aren't always a shining example (not unlike our Ga Bulldogs) but I like football enough to root for them all the same :mug:
