So I'm at my my LHBS buying some yeasties today for an upcoming brew and digging through Wyeast smack packs in the cooler for the strain I want. I find it and notice the price had been marked down to 99 cents. Curious I think since that's like $6 off normal. Looking at the package I see that the "manufacture" date was in May or March, I don't remember. I decided to use a slightly different strain than this one due to the age factor. Question is: would the 99 cent yeast have been Ok? It would be a great way to save some $$ if these "sale" yeasts are still good.

It would certainly be worth making a starter with...if it wasn't OK you're out a couple of bucks, if it was OK you made $6.
