I use the burner from a turkey fryer. Some of the other burners use up a lot of gas and if you're making a 5 gallon batch, you don't really need them. I would get a stainless brew pot though. I think all those turkey fryers are aluminum.

I used a 7.5 gal turkey fryer pot on a turkey fryer burner for quite a while. Then, I upgraded to a keggle, but still use the same burner. That one looks fine.

Many of the kettles that come with the turkey fryer burners are aluminum, but not all are. I'm not fond of the "turkey fryer" term. The burners are really universal outdoor propane cookers and have many uses other than deep frying turkeys. I think the Cajun's were the first to use them for cooking seafood etc and I'm pretty sure that they were the first to deep fry turkeys too. We owe much to those cagey Cajun's.

In the last year I have upgraded my burner twice and my brewpot 3 times. My suggestion would be to spoil yourself and get some really nice gear. If nothing else, get a used SP-10 burner and then splurge on your pot.

That's what I would do, but I know that money doesn't always permit what we want.

I think that most of us have had a similar experience. I've found it necessary to upgrade quite a few things in my brewery over the years. A good example would be my store bought CFC with the tiny 3/8" OD soft copper tubing inside a garden hose. I outgrew that thing within a very short time and it's now a door stop. I've also had to replace all of my hoses and fittings with larger ones, twice!

How are you planning to do AG? Cooler MLT? BIAB etc

I've been doing BIABs for my all grain. I have a 40qt Aluminum pot. It works, but to do over again I probably would go with a 60qt.

If you are not doing BIAB, I would say a 42qt pot is more than enough.

As mentioned earlier you can get an SP-10 from Amazon for ~$40

Commercial grade Aluminum stock pots on-line are pretty cheap as well. Easily $40-60 for a 40qt

That will work, but I think that's a weird size for brewing. it will work for sure for 5 Gallon batches but so will a cheaper 7.5 gallon version. It will not work for 10 gallon batches.
