adjusting propane flow? easy, or Crazy Talk?

I have two propane tanks, both of them the Rhino trade ins. I get them refilled at Uhaul because it's way cheaper that way. When I hook up one of the of the tanks to my turkey fryer I get a nice big blue flame and it works great. When I hook up the other tank to the turkey fryer, it puts out a very weak almost nonexistant flame.

Is there a way to adjust the propane output on the tanks, or should I just trade it in for another tank when it empties out? The low flowing tank works fine on the BBQ grill, so it's not completely useless. I'd just rather have a spare brewing tank I can kife off the BBQ grill if I run out with the other tank.

This is a common problem with rhino's tanks. Open the valve very slowly, then once opened let it run for a couple of seconds, this will allow the flow restrictor to open further.

The newer tanks also have anti-tip gismo. You have to shut off the gas, and bang the tank on the ground to get it to re-set. I kind of liken it to those kid's snorkles with the ball float in the end. Keeping on sucking won't let the ball drop. Ease up, the ball drops, and you can get full flow.

Didja know that tanks have the empty weigh stamped on the handle area? Usually T-19, The 'T' stands for Tare Weight. And, since the usual 5 gallon tank is actually a 20 pound tank, you can easily weigh the tank and figure it's fullness. Last 7 1/2g batch took me 4 1/2 pounds.

So turn off the gas, unhook it from the regulator, and bang it on the ground? Then let the gas out sllooooowly until I hear it hissing. Interesting.... OK I'll try that. Thanks guys!
