Will adding fresh ginger to a brewing wine that is at 15 Brix cause a problem? Like carbonation or mold?

I am just learning to read the hydrometer and that is the only number I can read correctly.

You could soak the ginger in vodka to kill off any of the wild things on its surface before adding it to the carboy.
