I have a question about honey addition and abv. I removed a quart of finished beer from my secondary after stealing a taste and deciding some honey would taste good. To the quart which i nuked till boil i added 1lb of processed clover honey. I cooled and added the mixture to my secondary.

My question is how would i calculate the abv change?
By my calculation 1lb honey added to 5gal of water would raise abv by 0.7% would this hold true if added to 5gal beer?

Honey is close to being 100% attenuable, so if you're using yeast that can handle the ABV you're going up to, it should be exactly like adding it to water. You may have to repitch if you don't have enough activity. Just make sure you let it all attenuate, or you may end up with some complex equations to do when it comes time to bottle.

it'll add about 0.9% (about 7pts to 5gals). you likely won't be able to taste any honey though if that was your intent
