Hi everyone, beginner here. I came up with this recipe for what I thought would be an amber ale, but I racked to secondary and it tasted a lot like Newcastle Brown Ale. Fine with me! I'm pleasantly surprised. But now I'm considering adding fruit. I'm thinking either blackberries or blueberries. I will get either fresh (and freeze first) or frozen and I'll mash them and add it probably a few days before bottling. I know fruit is usually scoffed at but I want to make a beer for someone and they would like it. I also know that not every recipe will pair well with fruit. I just want some advice about this recipe and how well you think fruit will go with it. Here's the recipe:

1/2# carapils
1/2# Victory
3/4# Caramel 80

A basic Amber LME... oops forgot to write it down

1 oz Northern Brewer dual purpose hops 60m
1 oz Kent golding aroma hops 10m

English Ale yeast (in a vial) (WLP002)

SG=1.043

I got 12 oz of blackberries and 12 oz of blueberries. Frozen. I let them thaw, blended them, and put them back in the freezer in a bag just to make sure It's extra sanitized. I'll just break it up later and add it still frozen. By batch is a little over 5 gallons. At least 5.5. I'm thinking about putting half in on carboy and half in another, and just adding the fruit to one. I don't want the flavor to be overpowering, but I want it to be noticeable. This is the first time I've tried this recipe so at least I will learn a little about what it tastes like with and without the fruit. Any advice?
