I just brewed a basic red ale extract kit from my lhbs and was thinking about adding fruit in a secondary. It seems from reading on here that people use raspberries for this style but I was thinking of adding strawberries instead. Just curious if anyone has done this and if it turned out good. Just for info this will be kegged and the recipe uses only cascade hops. Og was right on at 1.050.

If you haven't done this yet. Make sure to follow about 1 pound to a gallon for the raspberries and 1 to 2 pounds to a gallon for the strawberries. In a red ale, you may want to go to 2 pounds per just because 1 will just give a hint in a wheat beer. I recommend that you grab a red ale somewhere, and add strawberry juice to it to see how you like it before you add it.

Thanks! This beer is complete and I used about 5 pounds of strawberries. I agree with you and wished I had used more strawberries. The beer is still good with the strawberries just being a after taste.
