Soooooo, I got rushed through my brew session by SWMBO, and I whirlpooled a bunch of hops that I planned on tossing in a 30 min hop stand beginning below 140 degrees so as to not rack up the IBU's. Anyway pumped the estimated utilization of the hop addition into Brewers friend and it dramatically affected the IBU's. Almost 80 opposed to the desired 40. This was originally suppose to be a tasty pale ale ( about 5.3 ABV) but with the IBU's projected to be 80 I was thinking about adding a 3.3 lbs can of extra light LME to the carboy after primary fermentation has slowed a bit. This will put my ABV at just below 8 and hopefully balance the flavor. My question is .... Well; 1-is this a terrible idea. 2- what's the safest way to go about this

Best to analyze why you have a SWMBO instead of an Ol' Lady, in this situation. IMHO.
