Can you add the bluetooth connect module (the new controller) to an old grainfather?

morebeer says it "Fits any Grainfather currently on the market" - but the currently on the market makes me wonder, since the old orginal ones without the connect module are not technically on the market. I've emailed grainfather directly as well to see what they say.
 
From what I've read it works . Its basically an upgrade for the original system. Read reviews on Amazon and homebrewing.org
 
I bought my GF used with the gen 1 controller. I upgraded it to the connect controller. Plug and Play.
