It should look like the image below. These are the metric (black) acetal copolymer fittings that are functionally equivalent to the inch (grey) ones that I use. Both have nitrile o-rings.

5/16" is the magic imperial size that almost exactly matches a metric size (5/16 in = 0.3125in = 7.9375mm = 8mm if you give it a shove)

I hereby declare that the John Guest PM450813E fitting to be The Correct Fitting™ for Swiss Flow to 8mm EVABarrier tubing.

There is still a "cone" (maybe better called an internal collar to locate the washer) and I just don't care enough to figure out why this is better than the DMfit one. "It just is."
