I'm an idiot... I pitched the yeast without even thinking about measuring the OG. I took a measure after, and it was 1.025 @ 72 degrees. The beer is already showing signs of fermentation (after 6 hours), so I'm assuming it'll be okay. The OG of the beer was supposed to be 1.045 (I believe). Think everything will turn out okay, or am I in for a bad batch of beer? Thanks!

Unless "signs of fermentation" is an absolutely violent kreusen, I don't believe you could have dropped 20 points in 6 hours. At this point not much to do, but wait it out. I'm guessing you missed you OG by a ways, but I have a hard time believing you could error in your process that much either. Was you wort well mixed when you pulled your sample?

I do have a pretty decent sized krausen in the carboy right now, and fermentation is full steam ahead. The wort was pretty well mixed when I took my sample too. I followed the instructions to a T and I'm almost positive that I didn't make any (other) mistakes along the way. I'm just worried about having low ABV...

If it was a kit you have a 99% chance of being within 2 of your OG. I have to assume it was just a mixing thing. No worries!!
