Hello Everyone

Can I use RO water and just add ingredients to it?

Do I need to know what type of beer I am making?

tx
Bob

Yes, with the caveat that "ingredients" needs to include some minerals

And yes, that will vary based on the beer.

Unfortunately I can't help with more than that since I don't yet do anything to my water.

Yeah I get that.....

I'm just starting to stick my toes into the water

Keep it simple.
Because before you know it, you'll be sending water sample to Ward Labs, likely several times a year, then using 17 different calculators, questioning water profile, reading the Water book, buying pickling lime and epsom salts and oven drying calcium chloride prills, purchasing pH meters and losing sleep over calibration and stability thoughts.

And that post really will get you most of the way you need to go. I will note that years after that post, @ajdelange did say he recommends a little less than that original post, as most folks liked more minerally beers back then. If I remember correctly.

My R.O H2o unit is from Texas but it has a remineralizer, Yeast need minerals as well as the flavor we taste from them
