I'm sure he'll be fine, Yoops. They're tough little buggers, these wee ones.
True dat. Hope everyone recovers quickly.

Yes they are tough - when my son was born, there were a few tense moments of crisis - Doctor yelling, nurse dropping tray of implements in order to sprint out of the room, team of specialists barging in a few moments later - kid turned out just fine after all.

Best wishes to all.

+1 for everything turning out for the best. Man, I think back on all the little things that seemed huge at the time with both my kids and look at them now. My nephew had a breathing issue when he was born. He'd just stop breathing every once in a while and turn blue. The doctors gave him a MASSIVE dose of antibiotics to clear any possible infections and were dang close to sending him to the ICU. I of course was on the other side of the county getting this news in bits and pieces and his grandparents were on a cruise, which they didn't enjoy because they worried so much. Now, the kid's almost a year and a half old, walking around healthy as ever. He does have a near deadly allergy to peanuts, but we can deal with that. Like the doctor told my brother about newborns, "Sometimes, they're so new to all of this, that they just forget to breath."

Wishing young one, mom, grandma and family health and happiness....

I will send you the address for the cigar once he is home and healthy.

...

Actually, I won't bore you with all of the details but my brother and I have a unique feature on our right foot. Both of us, and no one else. Not my kids, nor his. Guess what????? Quinn has the same feature. I didn't get to see him that close, but I saw the nurse's notes about a "rotated toe on the right foot". When the nurse pointed it out to Tara and Chris, while I was at the window, Tara looked up and me and went, "Mommmmmmmmm!" I laughed and said that now I knew he was hers. I had to remove my shoe for the nurse who said "Yep, that's the same thing!"

Congrat's on the grandson!

I have a toe on my left foot that does that. I wonder if we are related.

Tell Tara to hang in there. It sounds like they will be taking good care of him.

I'm actually thinking about getting one of those shirts for my little girl. Yeah, she's 10, but she's small, and I like picking on her! And she likes to help me brew.

Oh, I'm sure Kris would love that..........:D

I'm going a bit crazy this morning- no news since he was transferred last night.

If Tara is discharged this morning, she and Chris will be driving up there to be with the baby. If she's not, Chris will go and I'll bring Tara when she's discharged from the hospital.

I'm heading up there. He's getting great care, but no one from the family has seen him in over 13 hours.

I might be gone for a while, but I'll keep you posted when I can. Please keep him in your prayers. I appreciate all the love, prayers, and thoughts you are sending our way.

Congrats! Does your daughter live in the same town? Was always helpful having Mom around in the start.

Sending Quinn good vibes and happy thoughts. He's a cute little guy! Don't let those PICU nurses fall in love with him and take him home! :)

(fingers crossed)

my good friend had a baby about two years ago born with an omphalocele(belly button never closed over the organs.) she's doing great now, healthy as any other toddler. i myself was air lifted from one hospitol to another when i was born. they broke my arm in three places and i spent several weeks in intensive care. i've since run three marathons and i'm prayin that your little one ends up the same.:mug:

He's doing pretty well! Tara was discharged from her hospital this morning (way too early, but she wanted to be with her baby) and Chris drove her up here a couple hours ago. They both finally got to hold him for a while, so I left when they got here to give them some time together.

I have unlimited internet at the hospital, but HBT is blocked- hrmpph. I'm at the "Beacon House" now. Quinn has bilateral pneumonia, and he's got IV antibiotics but otherwise he's doing fine. His heart is normal (they did an echo because of a murmur and enlargement) and he's looking pretty good. He should be in the NICU quite a while, but barring any complications Tara can nurse him and stay in this Beacon House for the duration.

Tara is anemic (lost some blood) and weak, but overall she's doing ok.

Thanks for all of your good wishes and prayers. :mug:

Congratulations on the new arrival!

My middle son had the same issue when he was born. The hospital did a great job with the baby. Nary a problem. Not that you need to be reminded, but pay close attention to your daughter. It is easy for her to get worn down; emotionally and physically.

Yeah, she didn't even eat today until she was dragged out of the NICU and forced to eat and go outside. She's going to stay at the Beacon House, about 1 block away, which means she will be forced to leave the hospital and I think that's a good thing.

I came home to give them the time with Quinn. I'll go back up there if they need me, or in a day or two, whichever comes first.

I have a couple of new pictures!

I see a lot of nurturing going on in those pics, but not much beating. Don't forget to beat him once in a while, it works best if it is for no apparent reason (Especially with boys) Case in point. Revvy benefited greatly from a broken nose. Now get in there and spank the little buggar! ;)

This had me rolling!!! :D

You know, if I recall correctly, Revvy enjoys that kind of thing. You want him to grow up just like Revvy, right? Heed the Gnome! :p

You look happy holding the little fella...he's surrounded by love!

Hey, in that first picture, had you just given him his first hop bomb?

We can't beat an infant in front of a camera! Geez, you guys. You oughta know better. No beer, no beatings, and no "bad" cussing where there are witnesses. I can't believe I have to tell you everything.

You have to wait until you get him alone. :D

almost time to start dropping the 'little brother' hints. :D

Meh, I don't think so. Tara is still yelling at Chris that she's "never having sex again as long as I live" so I don't think now is the time to suggest a second child. (She had 70 stitches, most internal. I know, I know, TMI but you can sort of see where she's coming from................)

Update: As of this morning, he is eating from a bottle a bit. He's sleepy, but was alert last night. If he responds to the antibiotics well, he could be home in another week or so!

Sounds like things are progressing well with the little one, but, yes, once again, TMI!!! :D

hahaha- I just saw him a few minutes ago. He's doing very well. He might come home next week if he continues to progress. By the way, he's looking much better! He still has plenty of tubes, monitors, and wires, and he's looking like a "normal" baby now. He's breathing easily. I have more pictures to post later!

I've heard that before. Stupid hard pregnancies.

Haha, she's already feeling better. The baby is doing quite well. He's still on IV antibiotics, but he's eating well and breathing just fine.

Here's a couple more pictures from last night and this morning (after all, I am a grandmother so please indulge me!):

LGI, you are sooo off center.. thats awesome!

Yeah. I'm not sure whether to laugh or be utterly revolted. Probably a combination of both......................:D

The best part is that he's doing so well. He's a really chubby baby, so he seems about twice the size of the other babies in the NICU.

Well, ya know that you have my congrats and best wishes and all that, and yes, baby is cute and all......Just don't make me post out of character! I have an annoying personality to defend :D

Too Adorable! But that one picture(one in the middle) clearly shows that he has had enuf hospital and just wants to go home with mom and dad!- just look at that face!:D
