I made one 4L yeast starter with two vials of Wlabs California ale. Because I don't have a container suitable for a starter this size, I used two growlers, using one vial in each. The one growler is going crazy with fermentation, the other has nothing. I did lose some yeast when adding it to the 2nd growler because it exploded on me when opening, so I'm not sure how much got in there. (i assume half?!)

Should I do anything to get the fermentation going in the 2nd? Add more yeast? Let it go? I've read suggestions on checking the gravity, but where should it be and what will that tell me? Thanks a lot!
