Dogfish head 90 min IPA tastes like raspberry beer. I'm a bit dissapointed. I was expecting a big hoppy IPA.

Did you have it out of the bottle or draft?

DFH 90 now in six packs?Walker-san said:Yeah... that's VERY important here. I had DFH90 from the keg at the World Beer Festival this spring in Raleigh, and it was pretty good. BOSTON bought some a few weeks ago in the bottle and nobody who tried it could stand it. It was terrible out of the bottle, which is embarassing to the company since they print in HUGE FRIGGIN LETTERS on the six pack holder

Captain Willard said:Most Dogfish Head brews seem to have a strong raisin flavor to me. It's not a bad thing, but it's not a flavor I expect. A buddy and I got a mixed 6 of Dogfish to drink while brewing recently, and all of the first 5 had a similar raisin flavor. Then we got to #6 - Raison D'Etre, which is brewed with green raisins - same flavor but much more intense. I don't think they use raisins in most of their brews, but IMO there's something distinctly raisiny in the Dogfish aesthetic. Maybe some of the adjunct sugars they use? There's an article by Sam Calagione, the Dogfish Head honcho in September's BYO. It indicates that they use odd sugars quite a bit.

I think another bold face lie on the package indicates it is bottle conditioned. I have been hard pressed to find the tiniest bit of sediment in any that I have consumed.Walker-san said:My bad! 4-pack. Either way... that bold face lie is printed on the packaging.![]()

It was a four pack of bottles, and it wasn't bad, it just wasn't very good. It was pure raspberries, down to the saccherine (sp) sweet - soft tongue coating aftertaste.Walker-san said:Yeah... that's VERY important here. Walker-san said:LOL. It's ok to admit that you spent a lot of money on a beer you ended up not liking. We've probably all done it.
I spent about $10 on a single, big bottle of Ommegang's Wit and dumped it down the drain because I couldn't drink it.
