6-row supply shortage?

I was at my LHBS today and they didn't have any 6-row. The owner said that their supplier hasn't been able to get any from the maltser. He mentioned either a shortage or grain or maltsers are just not producing it as much. Has anyone else ran into this or heard anything like this?

Had that happen last year. Many HBSs aren't carrying it in inventory because it has "gone out of style". I have to order it on-line if/when I use it.

I have never used 6 row. I rarely see it in a recipe, so I don't know about availability. I also haven't seen it on the online sites that I buy from. I guess it is not a really sought after item.

These days it seems 6-row mostly appears in recipes loaded with adjuncts that benefit from the higher diastatic power...

Riverbend malthouse in asheville uses 6row due to availability & regional growth so if you are close to WNC find their malts.
