You can actually design a "50A" panel without having to have a 50A+ contactor. Just use separate 30A contactors for each element load. Main power just needs to be a switch that supplies power to the pumps, PID's, and element contactor switches. If you need a partial schematic to understand how this works, just ask.

Hi All,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a contractor to do the main power on a 50 amp panel?

The only thing I've seen is the 63 amp contactors that E Brew Supply sells. https://ebrewsupply.com/collections...ucts/220v-2p-63a-110v-coil-din-rail-contactor

If I could find a panel mount rather than a din mount for half the price that would be ideal.
a 63 amp contactor is a relay able to handle UP TO 63 amps... I just bought a few myself and two of them are going to be used for 46a in my 120a nano brewery panel..
this is the ones ebew puts thier sticker on to rebrand..

I actually went with some of these in a recent build.

there are 50a contactor relays on ebay too but they are not reallyideal pricewise when you can get something built to handle more for less which means its less likely to fail when used with less amps. heres a used 50a one

here is a non din one under $20.. unless you have 24v you want one with a 240v or 120v coil

Thanks, augiedoggy!

I just ordered the din mount one off eBay. It will be a little cleaner that way and a couple bucks inst a huge deal. Now I think the last things I need are some 2 pole, 30 amp breakers, and some switches.

E brew supply looks like the best place for 30 amp 2 pole breakers but I haven't dug into Ebay for these. Got a hint for a cheap source on those?;)

if they are for 5500w elements (22-23amps max) I bought these 25a ul certified ones. a case of 6 is $40

if you dont care about the certifications these are only $8 each..https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHNT-Doubl...787286?hash=item4658382d16:g:OMcAAOSwKOJYGvQc
personally I would recommend at least CE certification.
