Wow, that would drive me nuts...I'd have that batch ruined by just flipping the light on, and looking at it all of the time!

I've gone longer and accidentally let my airlock go dry on a pumpkin ale with no issues. Actually, everybody loved that beer. I was so nervous that it had spoiled, but it turned out good.....in other words, I'd go for it and see what happens. Go ahead and take a little sip and see if you notice any off flavors before kegging.

Cheers,
AlfA

On purpose?
What temperature was it stored at?
If I woke up from a 5 month coma and found I had a beer in primary I would:
1) Pull a sample from as far down toward the yeast as I could and taste.
2) Stay away from the trub while racking leaving a modest amount of beer behind to keep away from the yeast.
Curious what affects this may have had.
