456123? 123456? 451236? 456 stop?

Star Wars fans know what I'm talking about. What's your preference? I've become a 456 stop guy myself.

I only believe in 456 but there is a lot of support for the Machete (45236) series. You start with Luke, follow him through Empire, then go back in time to see the cautionary tale of Anakin/Vader growing into the dark side, then return to see Luke struggle with the same challenge and take a different path.

You still have to suffer through Ep 2, though.

The dialogue in 123 make it near impossible for me to watch. Lots of great imagery though. 456 hold a special place in my heart, same as many others, but I often wonder how I would react had they just been released in my adulthood. I mean, is Jar Jar really much worse than C3PO and Ewoks?

He also edited the other 5 movies but I haven't watched them yet.

I've been watching 456 in the original theatrical release form, in all their celluloid graininess, poor aspect ratio glory. No additional effects, no windows in Cloud City, the original music in Jabba's palace, no images of Couriscant, Greedo doesn't get a shot off, etc.

I may bring the laptop to my brewing area and finish watching this weekend.

The wife never watched them, so we've been doing the machete order. She said she wanted to see #1, so we're doing the optional machete order of 451236. #2 is up tonight.

She really didn't understand why we would watch in this order. I just said, trust me.

I hated 1. However, I still say 1,2,3,4,5,6. I did not think 3 was horrible. 5 is the best, of course, but meaningless without the context.

I'm glad to see Lucas completely removed from the creative end of this. Two things that could have made 2 and 3 pretty good flicks: 1. complete elimination of Jar Jar Binks (obviously) and 2. cast someone else as Anikan. You have the central character to the plot portrayed by the worst actor to ever "grace" the silver screen. Why?!?!?

EDIT: problem with introducing someone new to the movies in the 1 2 3 4 5 6 order is that you may lose the viewer at 1...

I love every single Star Wars film ever made. All three of them. Looking forward to the fourth one, but I am being cautiously optimistic.

Speaking of sequels, it's a damned shame they never made any sequels to "The Matrix". I thought it was a fine flick, and deserved continuation.

As for cartoonish ROTJ, yes the Ewoks were pretty darn silly and it would have made a hell of a lot more sense if they had been wookies. Or Bothans. Wouldn't Bothans have made sense?

I always wondered why there aren't more Wookies. Wookies rule. I'm not an Ewok hater by any means though. I know I'm supposed to, but I saw ROTJ first, at six years old. I was the target Ewok audience.

456 Stop for me. In fact I have yet to see 3. 1&2 just didn't do it for me, and I just never bothered to watch 3.

I honestly think Phantom Menace is one of the better of all six movies. Yes, I know Jar Jar and anything kid-centric is annoying, but you're fooling yourself if you think the others, originals included, aren't filled with terrible dialogue and annoying characters. Darth Maul and Qui-Gon are the coolest things in Star Wars, and they more than make up for Jar Jar.

But I say this as not much of a fan of the Star Wars movies. I enjoy the universe, but holy hell are the plots/dialogue bad. I am looking forward to seeing what SW without Lucas can be.

Edit: 2 is the worst by far. Anakin love story, random droid army battles. Terrible. Portman was a babe though.

Jar-Jar is a vaguely racist character... to an adult, everyone else (children) Jar-Jar is just a goofy alien that speaks funny is always getting into trouble and if you look at his character as PURELY something to draw the younger generation in, he's not quite so annoying.

If you go back and watch Yoda when he first appeared he clearly was goofing off until he started seriously training Luke.

The two major qualities of Yoda you notice first when you first meet the character, are the exact same two qualities you notice about Jar Jar. Obviously Jar Jar was never redeemed (and shouldn't be, he is basically at fault for the entire clone wars) but before we get into completely slamming how bad his character is, he was exactly what he was supposed to be (a character to keep the younger generation interested in, and eventually obsessed with the SW universe).

Granted, he's probably the worst thing to ever happen ever and he has some of the most annoying lines ever written, and I feel like stabbing my eyes out with forks when I watch it now...

I'd say 451236, if I was going to introduce it to someone (I'll eventually do this with my daughters).

Much prequel hate here. But, as much as 1 and 2 weren't that great (2 especially... the whole Anakin/Padme romance was cringe-worthy), I still maintain that 3 is better than 6.

I really agree with the machete order of 45236. He lays out a well thought out argument for this order. And I "almost" agree with Genghis, I think 3 is a good movie and will stand up with the originals, but I can't bring myself to say it's better than 6. Ewan McGregor nails the role of Obi Wan in 3.

This is the only way to go. I watched a 456 on Blu Ray marathon with friends last weekend and it was like watching a Dr Who episode. Nothing wrong with Dr Who, just have a problem with George Lucas trying to turn 456 into 123.
