The closest thing I could find to my problem was this link :
"4 gallon yield from a 5 gallon batch"

My carboy slipped (sloshing the beer and mixing the sediment) as I tilted it while transferring to the bottling bucket , to which I had already added 3/4 cup priming sugar.

I decided to stop transferring because the bottom was stirred up.
so does 4 gallons of beer + 3/4 cup priming sugar =
Bottle Bombs
Overcarbed beer
Sweet Beer

I ended up with 40 bottles rather that the normal 46-50

I think ultimately it'll likely be more fizzy than it should be, but I doubt you'll have bottle bombs as long as the 4G was mixed adequately with the 3/4C sugar. I've carbed 1/4C per gallon in cider, and didn't lose any bottles. It was way ridiculously overcarbed, but it was drinkable.

thanks nebben,

I can handle a little FIZZY , I just don't want it to be too "Sweet"

If it is, just let it sit another few weeks, or even a couple of months. There's a good chance that time will mellow that

Thanks for the replies, guess I will pop one open in 2 or 3 weeks and see where I stand (I have them sitting in a large tub, just in case :D)

If you haven't pitched the dregs, I'd pour them into to a couple 2L bottles & carbonate.

cool idea, had not thought about that, I was able to salvage about 24 Oz (guess I didn't lose as much as I thought) guess I lost some when going to the secondary also.(b/c the bottling bucket was at exactly 4g)

Wonder how much corn sugar that would call for?
