I have 4 empty carboys....nothing brewing. Give me suggestions on what I should pick up today so I can brew this weekend.

I took YGPM (You Got PM) and made it into YGE (You Got Email) which I see I have a reply to already. Thank you sir!

Let's get some more ideas rolling here. I need to decide what I'll brew this weekend and next weekend ahead of time.

Carbing in the Kegerator: Pale Ale and Hefeweizen
Secondary: Brown Ale
Primary on Hold: Stout
Primary to Secondary: Some kinda Belgian tossed together with currants in it.
Primary: Dubbel

So again, something for this weekend, and something for next... All ideas appreciated.

thread hijacker!!!!!

but yeah, the more the merrier. You can see in my sig what I've done, something else would be nice. Is it too early to start on some sort of Octoberfest beer?

i'm doing a Honey Rye, hopefully Sunday (if my Blood Ale is finished by then). Then I think I'll do a Dunkelweizen on the yeast cake, THEN some other light beer...probably a brown ale or a mild or something.

I know, that is why I haven't told anyone where I live so I won't get turned in :D

I did a IPA as my 3rd batch, and it's been the best so far...maybe I'll do another one...like a 60/90 dog fish clone or something

EdWort's Apfelwein

There you go. 20 gallons of apple juice, 8 pounds of dextrose, 4 packs of Montrachet wine yeast and 20 minutes later you are done. Come back in 6 weeks to bottle or keg. Have a party!:mug:

Orange Kolsch

It's been a hit with my household. Light, crisp and a hint of orange and coriander. Perfect summer beer.

It's a basic Kolsch grain bill but with an american ale yeast (Kolsch yeast is a PITA in my opinion).

Here's an extract version.
5 – GALLONS EXTRACT

Boil Size: 6.57 gal
Estimated OG: 1.050 SG
Estimated Color: 5.2 SRM
Estimated IBU: 12.7 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 67.0 %
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

Ingredients:

Ah, don't feel so bad... we have 6 empty carboys... hubby told me that i should take it easy for a while...

well, I took care of the problem today, and my woman told me I was slacking!!!

Anyway, I bought an Oatmeal Stout and a British IPA kits, and the guy at my awesome LHBS gave me a Canadian Lager no boil kit for free! It's not my first choice, the two no boil kits I did before sucked, but this was a different brand, actually had hop pellets, so we'll see. Free beer, is well, free beer!

Yes but a free home brew kit is not free beer. There is the time to make it, the cost to boil it, and the bottling expenses to consider. Still given that the ingredients were free it might make a good beer for any BMC swilling friends.

Ok I'm jumping in as well. I just bottled the IPA that I'd been making. Now I'm looking for another idea as well. Not big on Stouts or Porters. I was looking for something with a sweet malty taste and a creamy head in the glass but not one that keeps you from pouring it. I think I made a trappist ale once that had the sort of flavor but not sure I made it authentic. I'd be looking for an EXTRACT based brew with maybe some crystal grain added? Ideas?

My SWMBO Slayer is low on bitterness and very smooth (and slightly sweet). The Belgian Wit yeast is the key. Check out my sig below...there's an extract version as well. Pic's are free... :)

I'm doing a honey koelsch next. i figure it's going to be ready to drink right when we're looking at 100+ degree days. A light refreshing beer should be perfect.

does it really ever get over 100 in Montana?

on the hot days it's pretty easy. last july, 28th, we got 103. We also had 39 days in a row with the high over 90 last year. then in february it got down to -16. I'm planning on using our lousy insulated basement to do a lager this winter.

wow, that is something I would not have expected, such a drastic flux in temp
