Hi Guys, i just got a new 3pcs valve, but it feels very oily.
It does have 2 hard Nylon or Teflon rings in it.

My question, with what do i need to clean it before i realy use it?
And is there another material for those rings? Like silicone or something?

Cheers.

BRAAF,

Whenever I get a new piece of hardware like a valve or whatnot is to totally disassemble it and give it a good soak in hot water with a good dose of TSP. The TSP strips the manufacturing oils from the hardware pretty quickly. After a few rinses, I follow with a quick dunk in StarSan and call it done.

Edit to add: And I don't use anything on the seals. Never had a leak either.

Cheers!

I don't believe that we have 'TSP' over here in the Netherlands.
Can you tell me something more about it?

BRAAF,

TSP is trisodium phosphate. It's a pretty strong degreaser. Around these parts, it's sold at hardware stores in the paint aisle. It's used to degrease walls prior to painting.

I suppose any degreaser that you can get your hand on would work. Hot water and soap would work. Just be sure to rinse really well.

Cheers!
