Dear Thomas - Thank you for signing up for the 3 Floyds brewery tour at Sat, January 21st, 2012 on 1:00PM. We'll see you then!

:ban:

I'm so happy about this, going to spend a little time in the tab room too. :)

I was disappointed with their tour. The host was cordial and answered nearly all beginner and advanced questions. My issue was that the tour consisted of about 30 feet of walking and was very short in duration.

ok I am going so any question people would like me to ask them?

Ive always wanted to try Three Floyds, Ive heard they make incredible beer. But I live in Atlanta and to my knowledge they dont sell down here :-( Does anyone know their distribution range?

about 100 miles around chicago and some into Ohio, Wis, Mn and Iowa

I found some Three Floyds beer south of Indianapolis, but apparently it's tough to come by even when you are in an area that gets it (so said the liquor store owner I talked to).

those are two easy question.. hope i don't choke on them. LOL

I can usually get some around here, but the variety is inconsistent.

Yeah- the tour sucked. And it was a 2 hour wait to get into the brew pub.

Broo doo is a wet hopped harvest ale, it is unbelievable. I would like to fill my swimming pool full of it.

cool thanks.. i have people that bring 3F's back from the city a couple times a year. so i have tired about all of thier beers, just going to look around alittle.

Just got into town last night, going to the modern art center today, then over to the park area, maybe GI tab room for an early to late day dinner.

Enjoy the snow.

The home we are staying at has a driveway that is about a half mipe long and no snowblower, nice eight inches of snow last night to remove by hand.

Yeah! It took me 2 hours to drive 15 miles yesterday.

Ya the tour sucked cuz they were doing some work on the place and then we waited like 2 hours to get into the pub and still never got in so we left and went to Flossmore station.

A few solid beer spots for local brews you should look into (you can do better than Goose Island). Great thing is that many if not most bars here have jumped on the craft brewing bandwagon and have some tasty offerings including local options from Revolution, Finch's, Half Acre, Two Brothers, Three Floyd's, etc. You can also find a tremendous craft beer selection at Binny's Beverage Depots.

Chicago Proper Brewpubs:
Revolution Brewing (Logan Square)
Piece (brewery and pizzeria, Bucktown)
Haymarket (West Loop, brews are hit or miss I have found)

Chicago Proper Beer Bars:
Beer Bistro (great selection of domestic craft beers and imports, West Loop)
Clark Street Ale House (River North)
The Map Room (a bit overhyped IMO, but a solid selection, Wicker Park)

If you're in the burbs you can't go wrong with:

Two Brothers Brew Pub (Warrenville. Also now operate the Roundhouse in Aurora)
Floosmoor Station (brew pub at the Floosmoor Metra stop)
Plainfield Brewery (Plainfield. A bit out of the way)
Tribes Ale House (great beer bar and quality food. Best in the burbs IMO. Mokena)

Enjoy your trip. Hopefully mother nature is ready to cooperate now.
