After a APA sittnig on a yeast cake for 28 days, do you think it will be alright if i pitch a brew on top of that cake?

I would not think it would be a problem but that is why i ask.

i had no free time to transfer or brew in the last 4 weeks otherwise it would have been done in week 2.

Incase you are wondering it will be a cream ale i am pitching on said yeast cake.

I would pitch but make sure I had standby yeast just in case it didn't take off good luck

I've had a HW in the primary for 34 days once. It won Best of Show, but I didn't reuse my yeast back then.

THe general practice is if it smells bad don't risk it.

I agree, they all smell bad, but I meant "BAD".

A lot of times I'll compare the smell to the leftover in the vial.

After a while you'll learn the different smells and be able to decide which are bad or not. Making a starter and sampling some of the liquid also helps.
