Is using the 25gallon pot for 10 gallon batches overkill and will I most likely boil off a ton of wort? I was offered one for $48, this particular pot retails at $168 dollars and I do believe it comes with a basket and a lid.

This also gives me an excuse to get a larger freezer and another carboy. Also can a Banjou SP10 (similar to the SQ-14 but round) handle boiling 15 gallons?

25 gallon pots are good for 10 gallon batches because you dont have to wory about a boil over. I use a 17 gallon for my 5 gallon batches and I can forget that thing for a couple minutes and it will foam up huge but never boil over.

What's that? I can't hear you over the echo in my 25 gallon pots ;)

I currently brew 5 gallon batches in a 15 gallon pot. That pot is 18" in diameter. These 25 gallon pots are less than 18" in diameter which tells me they'll be perfectly fine for 5, 10 or 15 gallon batches in the future.

That's all that I own. HLT, MLT, BK = all 25 gall. pots. U really never have to worry about outgrowing your system unless your going to break down and start up a damn micro. I guess we kind of are micros already, hmmm........
The lines are so blurred!

Going to go pick it up this afternoon. I wish I could convince myself to buy another one but hot damn even one is humongous.

Those things look like small stainless drums with handles welded on. Even the lid is basically a drum lid. I'd love to have a pot like that you have to to let us know where you got them.
