Where do you live that you can harvest hops this early?

I am still getting sidearms and first burrs. My normal harvest runs from mid August to the end of September.

Check GVH dying method thread. Not trying to knock food dehydrator but he states some oils may be lost at dying temps over 90°

Sorry. Havent check anything in a while. Keep competition down for the hops and plenty of water. And we have officially 1st year Chinook that have reached 24' and are full of side arms!!

Nebraska?!? I am south of you and my test hops are barely turning yellow inside. We've probably been too cold ironically...sigh.

18ft Cascade full of burrs!

Looks like California and Idaho have similar harvest seasons.
This is my first hop pole....16 feet high with Galena, Columbus and Centennial Hops hitting the top with hundreds of burrs. Each plant will give me around 25 ounces dry.

Here's my first year varieties using sub irrigated planters. Ive been really happy with the results so far. I have 1 mount hood and 1 willamette I started from rhizomes off my other 3rd year plants. And 2 each of centennial, columbus, cascade, and pacific gem from GLH. They are all starting to form burrs, but the cascades are loaded with them.

Here's some new pics of my hops. Cascade is doing the best, LOTS of burrs, Magnum is next with quite a few. Willamette and Goldings are still coming along only slower.

Well the dog went running after a bunny and ripped thru my willament plant but she came back from the dead so all is good cent has his eye sight on the deck Columbus came back from the dead and going pretty strong now and chinook is sorta puttin along. I'll snap pics when I'm out side in a bit

I finally stained the trellis this week. All that's left is to screw the top slats in. My one chinook plant continues to thrive and one of the Willamette's is starting to catch up. The magnum and centennial seem to be growing more bushy than tall.

The chinook is coming back from the dead. The lead 2 bines broke off at ground level during some insane wind storm 3 weeks ago.

Cascade been the most "growth" oriented here in the middle midwest. So been planning to get up there and see what is up with the first hops.



Little over an ounce, this was more of a learn what 'papery' feels like for hops.

OH...and I did throw the ladder up by the Centennials too...WOW, such cool grapefruit aromas even though none of those were ready to pick. The cascade is actually a bit disappointing in aroma. Hoping the centennials will be amazing in a month or so.

I was surprised how well my Cascade are doing this year. Usually I don't get a thing worth picking till mid August. The two bines are about five or six years now. Last year I got 3lb 8oz dry at the end of the year.

Brewer's Gold. They should be much bigger by now but there was a huge freak hail storm a couple months ago. They are thriving now though and side shoots are popping out.

My Glaciers made to the roof line a couple weeks ago.
They are now branching out, probably 'cause they have no more 'up' to climb.

These look great! I like the trellis idea too! There are a ton of cones up there!
