1. move to all-grain
2. further refine my "all-original" recipe into a truly finished product
3. be able to replicate that recipe consistently
4. enter a couple competitions
5. brew my summer/fall/winter seasonals so that they're actually finished on time
6. get the kegerator finished

1) Build a single tier system
2) Get that yeast bank going this year
3) Build up a better hops stash, more varieties
4) Enter more competitions, more specifically, brew for competitions.
5) Step up to more 10 gallon batches, maybe this is a subset of #1

1. Switch to all grain
2. Make a lager
3. Try new recipes
4. Get more 22oz bottles
5. Advocate homebrew/microbrew to my community more

1. Get SWMBO to go back to work (she's been laid off for >3 years now) so I can buy more kegs, fermentors....and stuff.
2. Brew 199.99 gallons.
3. Build kegerator.
4. Take the man cave back from the teenage kids who use it as their game room and decorate it up fire station style.
5. Be more active with the local home brew club.

So, this time next year, are we going to see if we achieved our goals as a whole?

  1. Do a partigyle with a friend
  2. Refine a recipe to the point I can call it my own, and share it here. (I'm thinking the Vagabond Gingered Ale from Papazian will be my starting point).
  3. Brew a beer from my heritage
  4. Enter a competition with an ale in a lager style, see how it does.
  5. Brew with others more often.
  6. Record my brew sessions better
  7. Think ahead on brewing

1) 10 gal beer and 5 gal wine /month
2) Design and assemble 5 gallon automated collapsible 2 vessel all-electric, hot water on demand, AG system
3) have 2 kegs on tap at all time (if #1 holds up this will not be an issue)

So, this time next year, are we going to see if we achieved our goals as a whole?

More or less yes. I forgot about the 2009 list for 2010 til it popped up in my subscribed threads , many replied with their results, so it would follow suit to post how you did. good luck in your endeavors!!!

1) Figure out my mash temp (thermometers) inconsistencies so I can hit my numbers!
2) Enter a competition
3) Fine tune a recipe (thinking my brown right now, but maybe a blonde or pale ale)
4) Relocate to area that will allow for brewing! I am getting married on September 10, 2011 and will be moving out of the parents house sometime between now and then. I will probably have to live in a small apartment, but I want to try and be able to live somewhere that will accommodate my AG brewing setup.

1) Move to all-grain (MLT is complete, now I just need the 15 gallon pot and propane burner)
2) Start making wine
3) Build a keezer
4) Finally figure out which ale to always have on hand - although the testing is fun
5) Perfect my Graff recipe. I started with Brandon O's recipe as a base and have been modifying it with different DME types, specialty grains, etc.

-Move to all grain
-Work on pipeline
-Finish keezer
-Teach some friends how to brew

the last is partially selfish, I am away from home two weeks a month and it would be great to be able to have more flexibility without having to plan things around when I'm home...

Man. This was such a great year. Next year I would like:

Organize my gear. Have dedicated spots for stuff.

Get a water test. experiment with profiles.

Streamline brew day. Look at an electric hlt that can take 10 gallons from 70* to 170* on under an hour and run it on a timer.

Sample more people's Homebrew.

Dedicate better times to drinking. Lately it always feels rushed and multitasked

Grow at least 3 hop varieties.

Visit some local breweries and brew pubs.

Take the beer judge exam.

1. (another) All grain.
2. (another) kegging.
3. introduce more people to great beer.
4. help more people in the labels forum looking for help.
5. renew my subscription.

1. Start All-Grain brewing
2. Build a 3-Tier Sculpture
3. Build a fermentation chamber
4. Brew a Barleywine
5. Brew at least 100 gallons

1) Get into a brewing rotation (getting back into brewing after about 2 years)
2) partial mash or all grain brewing
3) Kezzer (parts on the way)

1) Join a Homebrew Club
2) Start to formulate my own recipes
3) Set aside time to brew more often
4) Move to Partial Mashes

Does it count as goals for 2011 if I've already started putting things in motion? :p

1. I'm another brewer wanting to get his feet wet (figuratively) with all-grain brewing. My first attempt will be this Sunday, but I'm using it for a trial as to how I want to continue.

2. Finish the keg fridge. We've got the 4-keg setup, but next year I'm getting the shanks and faucets to really finish it off.

3. Find a "house" beer. Something I enjoy brewing, and everyone enjoys having around. We have enough kegs to store some so it'll work out well.

4. Work to continue the once-a-month brewing my brother and a mutual friend of ours have started, trying a few new recipes each time.

1. Join a homebrew club
2. Brew my first lager
3. Enter more competitions (I've only entered one each year since I started in 2007)
4. Finish tweaking my rig.
5. Do another fruit beer. I'm thinking a blueberry blonde ale made with wild blueberries.

1. Buy larger kettles (currently have one 5 gallon)
2. Go to all grain brewing
3. Enter a competition
4. Brew a barleywine
5. Make a mead

1) Kegging (equipment ordered)
2) Improve on annual Barleywine brew.
3) Improve water chemistry knowledge.
4) Make it to my first brew club meeting.
5) Make it to my first LHBS beer/wine social.
6) Organize brew area of basement.
7) After goal 6, convince swmbo that there is now room for a fermentation closet.
8) After goal 7, build closet or purchase refrigerator for ferm temp control.

2011 is going to be a transition year for me. Through college I've been sharing equipment with my dad and my brother. In April I'm graduating and entering (hopefully) the work force. So 2011 for me is going to be collecting new equipment that I can brew with in an apartment and then hopefully in 2012 I'll be looking for a house and some shiny new equipment again.

1. Start to phase out of kits and work off my own recipes
2. Transition to Partial-Mash brewing
3. Brew more frequently/regularly in order to have a constant supply of delicious beer
4. Brew with my brother, who got me started in all this wonderful madness

1. Build my temp controlled fermentation closet
2. Start kegging
3. Brew at least 1 AG batch
4. Back up my pipeline so my beer has ample time to age.

2011 Goals
1. acquire at least 2 more fermenters, if not more
2. keep on top of house projects so I can brew twice a month to keep all of my fermenters full
3. build my 6-tap keezer (might happen before Jan 1!)
4. continue to not spend ANY money on commercial brews
5. upgrade HLT and MLT to handle higher gravity batches

1) Consolidate the brewing rig in one location and mount it permanently
2) Finalize things like wort lines, connectors, HLT recirc and chiller plumbing
3) Get a 15gal Boilermaker to replace the motley collection of pots I have now
4) Plumb a natural gas line to replace the propane tank

1. Build a tier structure for my tuns and end it at the kettle to make things run more smoothly.

2. Build a recirc cooler.

3. Brew much better all grain batches.

4. Always have something on tap or in the pipeline.

5. Affligem Blond clone and Old Rasputin Stout clone.

1. Finish brewstand
2. Start mash pid temp controlling with matlab
3. Build a fermentation control setup
5. Buy grain in bulk
6. Plant a massive hop garden
7. Build a fermentation chamber
8. Enter 2 competitions

And just an overall goal of more consistency in my brewing process.

2011 Goal Sheet

1) Lager something.
2) Move to at least partial mash, if not full all grain.
3) Get a keg setup, even if it's only a Tap-a-draft.
4) Set up a proper brewing pipeline.
5) Get some of my friends into homebrewing.

1) Get set up in Ca
2) Start all grain brewing
3) Get a good rotation of my favorite beers kegged

( started In August of this year )

In 2011 I plan to:

1) Rebrew the first 10 brews I made, to judge any improvement in process
2) Build the brew system I have in my head
3) Get temp controller to turn fridge I have empty into a fermentation chamber
4) Keezer ( I was gonna order kegs this Cyber Monday , but life got in the way :( )
5) Grain Mill and bulk grain purchasing

1. Take part in the 11-11-11 recipe exchange;
2. Hopgaarden year 2: New location, new trellis, great harvest (I hope);
3. Brew a barleywine, a bock, and at least one other new style for me;
4. Increase the bandwidth on my pipeline, without mixing metaphors;
5. Keep friends and family happy!

In 2011 I hope to (in no particular order):

1) Complete fermentation chamber
2) Build my walk-in-cooler
3) Complete a simple brewstand (currently have my stuff scattered a bit on brew day
4) Increase fermentation/aging capacity to 3 BBL (currently at 1 BBL)
5) Continue to improve existing recipes and create 2 to 3 new reliable favorites
6) Complete the first 2 levels of welding classes a the local community college
7) Adjust hop garden spacing and raise trellis from 13.5 ft to 18-20 ft.

I will complete the yeast ranch before the end of this year.

Ok, seems pretty ambitious when I put it all on "paper" :drunk:

1. finish what i started (not limited to brewing)
2. spend less money on brewing.
3. learn more
4. apply what i learn

Maybe I'll just try to give up smokes instead.......[/QUOTE said:
:mug:

1. No new equipment. Trying to keep it as small scale as possible.
2. Get some friends involved to make it more fun and to do group buys. And to drink their home brew :D
3. At least 1 to 2 brews a month to keep the pipeline going.
4. Find three brews to keep in rotation.
5. Only buy craft beer and as infrequently as possible.

This will be my first year of brewing as a started this past October. I'm excited for the adventure.

This will be the second time I'm trying to get into brewing. Moving out of my parents house and having a roomate that likes to drink as much as I do will certainly help.

My goals for 2011:
1. upgrade some equipment
2. setup a dedicated brewing area/storage space
3. being 100% more diligent about sanitation and writing everything down
4. brew at LEAST 6 times this year, but hopefully 10 or more
5. create my own IPA recipe

Pretty simple goals for me:

1) Brew more frequently (drink more?) At least 8 times this year.
2) Start using yeast starters for a higher pitching rate
3) Work on getting my IPA/Pale ale (it straddles the line) to perfection
4) Get a mead going
5) Brew something, anything, that has to age for around a year. This might get combined with goal 4.
6) Not get my ass kicked by a wheat beer (or give up on them entirely).

Bonus goal: Sign up for premium membership and take part in the 12-12-12 exchange which will be brewed on 12-12-11.

This will be the second time I'm trying to get into brewing. Moving out of my parents house and having a roomate that likes to drink as much as I do will certainly help.

If I had started brewing when I still lived with my parents, they would never have let me move out... and not because they'd have thought I was some sort of delinquent, but because they wouldn't have wanted their source of free beer to dry up!
