Here's my problem: I got busy doing stuff other than brewing (such as drinking brews), and discovered a bit too late that I'm close to out of my favorite homebrew (an IPA). I will be going on a 2-week trip (Maui) in a couple of days, and it occurred to me that I could brew the night before I leave, and be ready to rack to the secondary when I get back. (Don't worry, I'll find stuff to drink on Maui.) But is 2 weeks in primary a bit too long? I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask. Thanks for any input.

Well, you've ruined it. You'll be able to drink it, but there's a slight (<5%) chance that you'll go impotent from yeast autolysis. You also want to make sure that an errant static spark doesn't ignite the evaporating alcohols and burn your house down.

Tell you what, I'll take that Maui trip for you and you can attend to what's most important: preventing yourself from going sterile.

The impotency I can live with - but will the beer taste good? :cross:

Okay, found my answer in another thread - I should be fine. And should also read a bit more before posting.

I've left beer in a primary for 34 days before that won Best of Show...you decide.:D

Your beer will be fine.;)

Your signature line takes 34 days to scroll through. That's my decision.

Har har, I kid you HB99, I LOVE your "analism"(?)!@!@! and can only hope to one day reach that level....and if my wife and child have nothing to do with it, I WILL!

I'm in awe that some of you guys can read...now THAT'S funny...I don't care who you are!!! ROFLMAO!!!:D

It's not too often I am the butt of your jokes, it's about time someone turned the table a bit.

List has been edited. We had 3 drinking sessions this week with coworkers and many a soldier died in the process. Deguello! No quarter! Entire batches are gone. Some with only a few stragglers remaining to carry on. It's a sad sight, but I got more troops in the wings!

Now go brew something...:drunk:
