So i'll cut right to the chase.....1st time attempting wine. Got a cabernet sauvignon kit from winexpert. Says to top off with a similar wine, if needed. My wife has a bottle of Marquette wine in the fridge that she doesn't really care for, but it's fine to me.....can I use this to top off, if needed, the cab sav? or will it create a bad concoction?

thanks

You can mix a little bit together and try it, but I'm thinking no, don't do it. Marquette can have a leathery taste with a pepper aftertaste, at least to me. That wouldn't go good with a Cab, imo.

Cab sav has changed in the last 15 years. It used to be a brother to merlot or chianti but the last decade it has dropped out of the oak, tobacco finish category and become a flat red table wine, better to stay in that category when topping off.
