Interesting article. I was researching some historic stuff for my 2nd home brewing book & found some interesting info in this regard in this article; http://www.europeanbeerguide.net/beerale.htm How British beers got their flavor is also discussed in this one about how they discovered Brettomyces in the barrels/casks they stored or shipped the beers in contributing that "British flavor" towards the bottom of the page. Reprints of books that discuss it, that is.
