Look on instawares.com for large pots, I got my 30 gallon for $115 (aluminum). You'll want to add threadless ball valve and perhaps thermometer. There really is no way to lift that much weight, very dangerous. I used two cinder blocks under each leg of my burner to raise it up high enough to gravity feed into my carboys. I'm figuring with a conical you'll want a pump (a simple aquarium pump like a mag12 or mag18 since the wort is cooled first) to move wort to the fermenter, just need a long enough hose and most likely quick disconnects to make it easier. At least this is my future plan one of these days. ;)

blaze379,
You've one upped me, perhaps I need to order a bigger pot and use mine as a HLT. :D

FSR402,
One with a s**tload of BTUs?! :D I would think you'd need at least 300k BTUs to boil 50 gallons in any sort of reasonable time. There is bound to be a calculator somewhere that will give you an idea of time to boil for x gallons with x btus at x ambient temperature. I know my cheap turkey burner takes an hour to boil 20 gallons on a normal day.

I was thinking 3 banjo burners would do it. I guess I had better buy 4 just to be sure.

Man, I was about to order a new Squeezebox boom, but this might be money better spent.

Does anyone really know if the plastic that these things are made from is food grade plastic???

They are. Made of Polyethylene and it's food safe. It's the same plastic that the 8 gallon mini brew tanks I have are made of. I did extensive searching before i bought one.. Believe me I'm not going to ferment in some crappy plastic that is not food grade safe..lol

here is a company that explains it a little better.
Inductor Cone Bottom Bulk Storage Tanks - US Plastic Corporation

Okay then...just my concern is that it might have some recycled plastics in it....which would instantly make it non-food grade.

Appears as though those tanks that you posted are good to go. I was wondering about the tank that the OP was speaking of.

I am the OP.. lol, and those are the same tanks, just a different manufacture. Just wanted to answer your question about food grade. That's why i posted a different link that had different info.

Good enough....keep up the good work.

P.S. What kind of stand did you end up making? Put any thought into that basketball hoop?

Stand will be built today .. waiting on my friend to come over for the build party.. lol. I'm going to put all my fermenters on this stand.. I'll post pics later of the set up.. ;)

Ok done with quick stand..

NM about the conical stand, I wasn't looking at the right part of the picture. But still, how far up did you put the ball valve?

Ok thats kinda what I thought but I'd rather ask and look stupid than not know and look really stupid. The setup looks great how is it working out for you?

Could we also get a picture of the conical from underneath the table?

I would be interested to see how much room you have for the racking port, etc.

Thanks!

I'm in the process of designing a fermentation cabinet that will hold two of these (i've had one that I have never used since Jan 2008) and 6 carboys.

Thanks again!
