Hi, I thought I'd share my 13.2 gallon Corny Keg/Fermenter build.

I took a cardboard cutout of the lid of a corny keg and traced that around the spear of the Sanke (European). I used about 6 dremel cutoff discs to cut off the spear/bung so I could get a good angle to cutout the corny lid opening. That took another 5-6 discs.

I drilled two holes to put in the liquid and gas adapter posts I got here:

Instead of using a female pipe hose stem and hose for the liquid pickup, I drilled out one post to accommodate a liquid diptube. I had to cut off the top part with the grommet to get the liquid dip tube to seat properly.

I used a #9 o-ring top and bottom and tightened the adapter posts down onto the keg with a "Lamp parts" nut I found in ACE hardware. (Those fit pipe thread apparently.)

I added gas and liquid posts, and Viola; A functional and sealed 13.2 gallon "Corny" Keg.

Hope this helps anyone Else's future builds! :mug:

Cool idea! Is the top of this 13.2 gal keg flat or is it curved like a regular Sanke? How well does it seal? Do you think this would work with a regular 15.5gal Sanke keg? I like the idea. Makes for easier washing, CO2 purging, and filling!

It's curved just like a regular sanke. It's smooth unlike most 15.5 gallons with the raised star indentation. I filled it up with water and flipped it upside down, not a drop came out. I'm currently fermenting 11 gallons of a amber ale.

You did a better job cutting your corny hole than me! I have a little notch in the side of mine and some C02 escapes, I haven't fixed it yet as I just use it as a primary, after a week or two I transfer to carboys. You're gonna love the headspace for doing 10 gallon batches!

I did my lid on the opposite side of you, and where your hole was that had the guts I silver soldered a fitting that holds a triclamp for easier cleaning.

Kudos to using dremel tool to the extreme! Did you use it to cut off the thicker cylinder part? That was a mother for me and I just used a regular grinder, hence the crappy oval.
