Does anyone know where I can get cheap 1 gallon fermenters? I am going to be making an american stout and after primary fermentation, I want to split it up into a couple of fermenters. One fermenter, I'm going to age it on oak chips that have been soaked in vodka, one on oak chips that have been soaked in tequila, and one on plain oak chips just to compare the flavors.

If you like apple cider then just go buy a few gallon jugs of it. If not check out your local homebrew store, they probably have some for a couple bucks each.

My local HBS had some 1 gallon glass jugs that I bought for that purpose. They also had stoppers that fit them. They're pretty cheap.

Those 1 gallon jugs are usually around $8 or less. Or if you like cheap wine, the same jug can be had for $10.

^^^^^This. I think I paid 8-10 bucks for mine. Probably a little less. Amazon has them for ~$10

2 gallon plastic buckets work well too. Any decent hardware store will carry food grade buckets and lids, and gromets to use for the airlock hole that you'll drill. They are good for primary fermentation, but if you want to secondary you should use a glass jug.

Do you recycle?
I got a dozen of them from the recycler when I brought some aluminum cans in. Just ask if they have any glass 1 gallon wine jugs. I got mine for $0.10 each, just have to ask nicely.
