I really like doing 1gal small batch brews since I can do them in the kitchen and I can make several at a time and in return they don't take up much room. I would rather keg than bottle as well so here is my dilemma...Found a website that has 1.75 gallon kegs with same size corny lids and ball lock posts, for the same price I can get a 2.5 gallon ball lock keg.

Does anyone have any experience with the 1.75gal keg?
Should I take the 2.5 over the 1.75 for 1 gallon batches in case I want to keg half of a 5gal batch?
Is there an issue with Kegging 1gallon of beer in a 2.5gal keg?

The size of the kegs are only 3" different so Im not to concerned with that aspect of the comparison. Some experienced knowledge would be great!!:mug:

I don't have experience with the 1.75 gallon kegs, but if you think you might keg 1/2 of a 5 gallon batch, I would go with a 2.5 gal keg. It won't hurt to have 1 gallon in a 2.5 gallon keg, so long as you purge out the head space with CO2.

Hey, I just saw a kick starter for the Drinktanks Juggernaut. It's a pressurized 1 gallon growler. Pricy for a growler, but might be cheaper than a keg setup for a 1 gallon system.

I have two 2.5 gallon ball lock kegs and love them. They're big enough to carbonate 1 gal batches, and fit perfectly in my fridge. They're also big enough to split a regular 5 gallon batch say I want to dry-hop half a batch differently.
