Hi All,

I've recently brewed up Northern Brewer's St. Paul Porter.

Its mostly dark LME for fermentables, with about .5lb steeping grains.

I used a 3 month old Wyeast Ringwood smackpack with no starter (dumb, I know).

OG was 1.053 and its at 1.019 after two weeks. Was hoping for closer to 1.014.

I've got a pack of S04 on hand. Should I pitch it?

Wouldn't waste your time. Already fermented beer is an inhospitable environment for new yeast. Check gravity and if it is stable for a few days, go ahead and bottle. It is not out of the ordinary for extract brews to finish higher than expected. (Search 1.020 curse). You're not THAT far from your FG.

I know its not that far off, but the sample I tasted was pretty sweet. Maybe the carbonation will balance some of the sweetness?

I will check out the 1.020 curse thread. Most of my beers are ending at 1.016 to 1.020 at its ticking me off.

Check out some thread on late addition of extract...
