March Pump 809 PL HS-C - FITTINGS HELP

thanks for the quick replies. I guess I was just over thinking... looks like i will go get the 3/4 to 1/2 reducer. Should I keep it stainless steel to go with the Camlocks, or does it not matter if I use the brass fittings?

March Pump 809 PL HS-C - FITTINGS HELP

Ok, so I have tried searching for hours and have come up with nothing (maybe even more questions) regarding which fittings to use for my new march pump. Was hoping someone with more experience can guide me in the right direction. I have the March pump 809 pl-hs-c, the one with the center...

First Attempt - Irish Red - Recipe thoughts

Just pulled a sample yesterday. Checked the hydro reading and it was at 1.014, which is 2 points higher than anticipated. Hoping it'll still drop to 1.012 since I am going to let it sit for another 1.5 weeks. Colour came out a tad on the brownish side, with a reddish colour when held up...

First Attempt - Irish Red - Recipe thoughts

So, after a few attempts at an ESB that have pretty much failed(didn't like my hop combos and lack of specialty grain) I have decided that I want to brew an IRISH RED ALE. I am hoping this recipe will have a nice red colour, with a sweet taste, and a nice roasty/VERY slight hint of coffee...

High IBU = Very hoppy, but NOT bitter

High IBU = Very hoppy, but NOT bitter

Weirdboy...... I've been using Hopville for my recipe formulations. IBUs are based off of that. Even in the batches without FirstWort Hops, it is the same. I thought the amount of hops for bittering was low as well, but the IBU calculation Hopville spits out says otherwise, so I am not...

High IBU = Very hoppy, but NOT bitter

Was hoping someone had some input into this problem I have been having for a while now. Every batch I make (more so for IPA's), the bitterness does not stand out. I've had the IBU in the ranges of 65 - 100 and there is little 'Bitterness' to them. I mean, they are Very hoppy and flavorful...

    What would happen?

I wouldn't worry too much about the lower temps, depending on the yeast you use. I used US-05 at 58 degrees and went from 1.057 to 1.012 in 2 weeks. No off flavors. probably only lose out on a little bit of the 'light esters' that you would get in the higher 60's range.

    Dry Hopping Question

exactly. I put it on the hose end that is being transfered into the bottling bucket. I give it a bunch of slack so that it can fill up with hops at it comes out without getting clogged up.

    Dry Hopping Question

I have dry hopped in primary with great results. The trick is to attach a sanitized nylon cloth bag to the end of the siphon that is not in the carboy. Having the nylon filter on the siphon end will result in lots of air bubbles towards the end.

    Mill Street Tankhouse Ale Recipe

I'm currently drinking the following brew that I have in my Kegerator. It is inspired by Tankhouse. Besides using a little bit of Columbus hops, this came out really great and resembles tankhouse 76% 10lb 0 Pale Malt (Maris Otter) 6% 0 12oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L 5% 0 10oz Caramunich...

    Recipe - Magnum Citra IPA

Ok, that's what I was thinking. Next time I will definetly go a little finer with the crush. Aside from that issue, any input on the grain bill? Suggestions for next time?

    Recipe - Magnum Citra IPA

Was hoping to get some input on this Citra IPA recipe I formulated. This was my first batch using my new corona mill, and to my surprise, I only hit 50% Efficiency! Don't know what happened. I thought the grain looked milled enough. Because of the low efficiency, I had to add 1lb corn...

    Toronto Homebrewer

I get everything from Canadian Homebrew Supplies out in Brampton. They are a 25 min drive and got a great retail store front. Also use Niagara Traditions out in Buffalo when I get out that way (which is frequent)
