McMenamins Robert the Bruce Scotch ale clone help

I don't know if anyone else will have had this, as I don't think they made a whole lot of it. I just had 1 pint, and it was very good, much better than most of their beers, I thought. Here is all the info I could find on it. Fairly complete, but without amounts/proportions, of course...

Boulevard Double Wide and Tank 7

My brother got me a mixed 4 pack of Boulevard with a nice glass for the holidays. I was super excited, as I've been hearing great things about Boulevard, but there's not a lot of it around here. I'm sampling the Double Wide IPA and the Tank 7 saison. I've been mostly drinking American ales...

    How much washed yeast?

I'm sure this has been answered, but I'm having trouble finding it. I washed some Wyeast 1056, and I now have 3 1 liter jars of it. I'm going to make EdWort's Rye IPA this weekend, and I'd like to use the washed yeast. However, I have no idea how much to use, and if I should be making a starter...

My wife just called my latest brew the best beer she'd ever had

She actually said it was a tie with this and Oskar Blues G'Knight, but I'll consider it a win. She's not a heavy drinker, but she samples a lot of different beers. This was my first AG beer, and it's actually pretty similar to G'Knight, but not a clone. It's also somewhat similar to Double...

Stir plate making crazy big krausen?

I just built a stir plate, and I'm doing my first starter with it. It's a 2l starter in a 2l jar, so there's not a lot of headspace. However, I thought I'd be ok, since I've been reading that using a stir plate doesn't give big krausens. I started it last night, and I woke up to a bunch of...

    Next Item of equipment?

I just did my first batch of all grain, and it went well enough that I see myself doing a lot of it. Now I feel like I'm lacking some equipment, but I'm on a budget, so I have to prioritize what I need. What I have: 7.5 gal SS pot Electric stove (in my kitchen) 10 gal cooler with SS braid...

    Beervana

I brewed up my first all grain batch on sunday, and the krausen fell today, so I took a sample out under the guise of checking the gravity. The sample tastes so damn good, I can hardly believe it. It's an India Red, and it's already amazing. The extract and partial mash brews I've made have...

Time to bottle, but lots of unfermented sugars and out of yeast

It's time to bottle the Russian Imperial Stout I brewed up in June. It was 1.088 OG, and I didn't pitch nearly enough yeast. Gravity only got down to 1.034. I assume there is next to no yeast left in there for carbonation. What's the best procedure for bottling? As a side note, I'm tasting...

Cooling the fermenter without water bath?

I am limited in the space where I can ferment. Which is to say I was granted the bottom of a small linen closet. It stays a nice, consistent 66 or so, which is mostly fine, except for the first few days of fermentation. I know the standard cooling practice is to put the fermenter in a big...

What do you do to get/keep the crap out of your wort?

I did my first AG last night, and for the most part, it went great. I hit my target gravity, and everything smells wonderful. The only issue I had was lots of 'stuff' in the wort. This was also my first time using whole hops (as opposed to pellets). I used a strainer to get the hops out, but...
