Texas Houston - 6 Ball Lock Corny Kegs + Carboy, $45ea

I have 6 ball lock corny kegs and 1 6 (or 6.5 can't remember) gallon carboy for sale. $45 each. The kegs all hold pressure but could probably use new O-rings as they've been sitting for about a year.

    Raspberry Hefe?

It's getting warm here in Houston and I want to brew a good Raspberry Hefe for the ladies to enjoy by the pool (life is good!). A couple quick questions for anyone who has done it: 1.) I plan on using frozen raspberries in the secondary. Is 2 pounds enough? 2.) I have a glass 5 gallon...

    First Lager, Starter Questions

I'm going to brew my first lager in a couple of weeks (Mexican Cerveza from DeFalcos in Houston) right before I go out of town for two weeks. My plan is to brew it and then put the bucket in the kegerator at ~50 for while I'm gone, then bring it up to room temp for 24-48 hours, keg it and store...

    Reusing Hefe Yeast

I've got a hefe done fermenting and I want to make another one right behind it. Are there any drawbacks to my simply pouring the wort on the old yeast cake after kegging? In some very old threads I read that it may be over-pitching. Do I really need to worry about that? I'm going to try my...

    Beer seems undercarbed

This may be my imagination, but after kegging and drinking the past 5 batches or so, I have not been happy with my level of carbonation. I carb to style and my lines are 8ft. I use the excel worksheet for balancing I found here as well as the carbonation chart. My beers taste fine and I am...

Fermenting an Oktoberfest / Temp Control Ideas

Hi All, I really want to brew an Oktoberfest, but I do not have a fermentation chamber. What I do have is room in my refrigerator and room in my kegerator. So I have two questions: 1.) Can I just get my fridge to the right temp and put my Ale Pail in there? Is the bacteria that is normal...

    WLP300 vs. WLP380

Of my 5 batches I have made, my Hefeweizen was by far my favorite. When I made it I used the following recipe with WLP300: 6 lbs. wheat malt extract 1/2 lb. wheat malt grain 1/2 lb. two-row pale malt 1/4 lb. cara-pils malt 1 oz. Hallertauer hops (bitter) I really enjoyed the flavors in...

    Starkenberger Beer Pool

Just saw this on travel channel, this brewery has 7 pools of beer that you can swim in. Too damn cool. Here's a link.

    Poll - Keg Conditioning Time

After connecting the gas, burst carbing and cooling the keg to around 40*, when is the beer "ready" in your personal experience: I'm new to kegging, having only kegged two batches so far. My first batch tasted funky until about 10 days in the keg, then it was great. My second kegged batch...

Hefe low FG - No big deal?

A week ago I brewed a Hefeweizen with LME, steeping grains and WLP300. I used this recipe. My fermentation temp was a pretty consistent 68-70, using a water bath. Activity from the blowoff tube stopped by the third day. Today, day 7, I took a gravity reading and moved to an airlock. The OG...

I'm finally posting a "Is my beer ruined" thread.

I swore I'd never post one of these... About 6 weeks ago I brewed a Belgian Wit. I decided to do an extended primary like most suggest. After the first three weeks of fermentation, I had to travel and leave the beer alone for two weeks. When I arrived home, the water in my bucket had...

    Newbie Needs Help

I'm a rank beginner. I searched around for my question but didn't se an answer. I just got a kegerator and converted it for corny kegs. I kegged my first beer and after applying co2 pressure, there was a lot of co2 or something coming out right were you adjust for the pressure. Is that...

    Belgian Wit / Hoegaarden

This weekend I will be starting my second ever brew (extract with speacilty grains) and I'm wanting to do a Belgian White. I'm an absolute beginner at this as I've just bottled my first batch (Amber Ale), but things seem to be going pretty well. I'll be using the kit from my LHBS, the recipe...

    First Time bottling, broken bottles

I just got through bottling my first brew today after over three weeks of fermenting and I had some bottles break while crimping the caps with the butterfly capper that came with my kit. I lost about 10 bottles. A couple more "felt" like they had broken but show no visible cracks and did not...
