    First All-Grain, the chronicles

^^^ agree. I shot for an hour fly sparging. As stated, regulate the HLT to maintatin the head pressure so to speak. If you notice the MT not draining then mess with that valve. Your method all sounds good to me. I would have waited for the sediment to settle just a touch then take a...

Using (dried) Hop Cones for Decoration?

That ordament is great. I like the idea of different grain and/ or hop cones in that 60oz glass. maybe on display in the brew area or on the keggerator. I also like the idea of mixing it up or change it up either with each brew day or every now and then. If you just want to dump some stuff in...

To squeeze the bag, or not to squeeze the bag ... that is the question

2nd batch, recently learned things, a question

As stated above, we need a bit more information but my guess is you have a ways to go as far as fermentation, that's a lot of sugars. Keep us posted.

    Opinion needed for temp control

If you have a controller already, just turn it to max cold, plug it into the controller, put the probe inside and set a temp to see if that fan only runs when the compressor is running or if it's running all the time. I guess what I'm getting at is before you start changing stuff just run it...

    Pony keg 7.75 gal keggle

I don't know if I would bother. I mean I liked making my keggles but it's some work and for 3 gal batches you could prob do with a pot you have at home or get one from the store for much cheaper than it will take to build that keggle... and I mean MUCH cheaper. Use that one for fermentation!

Now that I'm thinking about home roasted coffee. I'm wondering what you guys use to roast. if it's been discussed in prior pages I will eventually find again. I've been using a popper for roasting coffee for espresso (Baratza Vario grinder / ECM Giotto machine) and well it works well I have to...

    Starter wait time

With my stir plate it seem all is done within 24 hours and maybe much less. If you're making it more than a few days before brewing I would let if finish and then put in the frig, take out when you start brewing and it will be room temp by the time your done. Unless your stepping it up then...

Cheap DIY Option for a Motorized Grain Mill

Nice article. I have yet to motorize my mill but have thought about it a time or two (I do use a drill). I will keep this info in the hopper for future reference. ;)

Paint or powder coat for my new Brew stand?

I incorperated some heavy duty heat shields (if I recall it's 3/16" 3" X 4" angle) with an air gap around them and the rig and between them and the keggles. Both colors are the high heat grill/engine paint. Neither have burnt off and so far no rust or charred looking parts.
