    Recommended external temp control

I also really like my Johnson A19, I use it in a minifridge and I think it works great, my temps are aways just about spot on (1-2 degrees). I'm not really concerned about the coil line breaking, as my setup is stationary, but I guess it is kinda flimsy so it depends on how you have your stuff...

    Newbie

The two aformentioned books are definately the place to start. As far as the recipie, you LHBS should have a bunch of differnt kits. I think wheat beers tend to be an easier kit to start with as they usually don't have alot of extra grains or hops to deal with, its a good tasty way to get your...

Educate my Palate - A question of flavors and how to identify them.

I would go to your local beer store and pick up 2 or 3 singles of a style or two you think you proably like and get a kit from your LHBS that mimicks that style. batches. You could also start with a few batches with lower hop profiles like wheat beers. That's pretty much what I did for more...

Anybody else having a hoppy easter?

I decided to make today a brew day before heading off to the family functions, so I've just got my "Hairy Porter" in the fermenter. I did miss out on having a homebrew during the brew process though, I'm not much of an early morning drinker :cross:

Trying first batch after being bottled for a week

lol. if all I made was 2 bottles I still couldnt wait. Patience is a virtue that gets all used up in the first 3 weeks of the process. I just had my red ale after 7 days and it was great.

Trying first batch after being bottled for a week

I can only contain my excitement for a maximum of 7 days, so I would definately say go for it. The other 4.8 gallons wont mind

    18th Day sample is harsh

I’m still trying to work out how the off flavors I always taste during my SG checks relate to the generally delicious final product. So far it seems that it's probably not gross to it's cold, bubbly, and gross.
