    Belgian Wit taste.....

So it's been about 5 1/2 weeks since I brewed my extract wit. It's been sitting in the fermentor for the 5 1/2 weeks. I was wondering if maybe I'll have some off taste once I can finally keg it. I've read a bit about autolysis. I'm wanting to know if I should expect some off taste, or if it...

    Rebuild regulator?

So when I bought my sanke the guy gave me a co2 tank, regulator, beer faucet, and shank. All these items sat out in the weather for years. I was wondering if it would be possible to rebuild the regulator. The gauges seem to be the parts that didn't handle the weathering very well. I was hoping...

    First batch on its way.

So I'm working on my first batch of extract. Doing an Belgian Wit for my first. It looks and smells like its doing ok. Anyway here is a picture from me taking the top off the bucket to see what it was doing. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w238/bighoss56/Beer/IMG_20110422_223310.jpg

    Motorola Droid.....D1 QWERTY issues

So I don't know what caused it, but the QWERTY keyboard backlight on my D1 quit working all of the sudden. Been searching for an answer to the issue online. But... alas no fixes have worked to get the backlight to work again. Ugh why me? LOL

    First batch

So I've finally got my first batch brewed, and in the bucket fermenting along. Though not as fast as most. It currently resides in my basement. Which sits at a constant 60°F. But the airlock is showing life so its definitely fermenting. Wish I had a fermometer so I could see the fermentation...

    Home brewed milk stout....

So down here at the parent's house this evening, and my brother-in-law and sister were over as well. My brother-in-law brought some home brewed milk stout he had gotten from an acquaintance at work. It wasn't quite what I'd expected. I was expecting more of an roasty taste, but there wasn't. It...

    Need a machinist help!!!

So I'm in some dire need here. I've got everything I need to brew except one tiny piece. I need a orifice for my burner. I've searched the net quite a bit, and have only found one place that sells what I need. But with the piece price and shipping it's going to cost me $20. I'm afraid to find an...

    JB Weld and propane

So I found the issue with my burner having yellow flames no matter how low I had the flow of propane. I'm missing the orifice that's needed to center the flow of propane and allow more air intake. So I was wondering if I'd be able to put JB Weld in the tip of the 1/8" fitting, and drilling it...

    Packaged Hops

So I found a local shop really close to me. Most of the sales at this shop are for wine making, but beer ingredients and hardware also. But the reason I'm posting this is because of the hops storage. There are pellet as well as whole leaf hops being store out on the shelf. I was curious if I...

    Burner issues.....

So I'm at a loss here. Got an old turkey fryer burner from a friend. It's seen some weather and is a bit rusted. It looks like Bayou Classics BG10 burner, but with no air shutter. My issue is got an 20 psi high pressure regulator with a needle valve flow knob on it. So I hook it up today. I'm...

    Praise The Brewing Gods!!

Yes! Praise them very much so. I am now ready to begin brewing. I've purchased the last piece of hardware to complete my brewing equipment. Now all that's needed is some cleaning, and sanitizing. Then I will be all set for the holy day of brewing! :rockin::mug::tank:

    Regulator max psi?

I've been searching for an regulator to piece together my setup. I've found an high pressure regulator but its only rated for 12 Psi, and it's not adjustable. Is this regulator usable? Or should I find another?

Do I need an air shutter?

So I got an older turkey frying setup from a friend at work. The burner is a bit rusted, and needs some cleaning. He only had the burner, and stand that came in the kit. The pot was junk, and the hose, and regulator are MIA. I've been looking around on the net, and have noticed an air shutter on...

    Belgian Tripel???

So I've been kicking around which kit I want to do for the first batch. Now that income tax has rolled in I've got the extra cash to get all of the equipment I need to get started. I just happened across the kit for a Belgian Tripel, and was wondering if I should shy away from this for the first...

The new year is starting off great!

So my new year is starting off great already in my opinion. Got a call from my friend this morning, and he had some great news for me. He went out to his old home place this morning, and found something for me. He went and picked up a keg, and co2 tank, and is selling it to me. I'm making the...

Wow! Great deal on co2 tank.

So I haven't started brewing yet I'm planning on kegging rather than bottling. So I've been looking for what I'll need to do this. A buddy of mine from work knew someone that had a few things. Well he had a few extra tanks in is possession. Well I was able to strike a deal with him. I'm getting...

    Restaurant/Brew Pub

So this is nothing I'll probably do, just some thoughts. Since I've been coming to the HBT community I've gotten really excited about starting this new hobby. Well I was just thinking today how well this hobby would go with starting a restaurant of my own. I enjoy cooking quite a bit, and had...

Not the worst job...... (total rant)-(venting)

So I don't have the worst job in the world, but I'm really beginning to hate it. It's getting to the point of me not wanting to even go to work at all. I started at the place I work a little over 6 years ago, and it's gone downhill from there. I'm a forklift operator at large produce...
