Does high gravity equal High yeast starter?

I am in the process of inventing a high gravity barleywine recipe and was wondering about yeast. From the recipe i found they used 3 packs of safale s-04 just rehydrate and tossed in the bucket. Does this sound right? It is just skipping the starter stage by adding the 3 packs, right? will...

Does high gravity mean low IBU's?

when entering a recipe in beer smith for a barley wine, I have gotten a original gravity of 1.13 for a 3 gallon batch. When adding my hops, i used 3oz of Columbus for 60 minutes and 3 oz cascade for 15 minutes but the ibus only get to around 8. i understand high gravity beer diminishes the...

Maple syrup instead of corn sugar to prime?

I just brewed a batch of brew I called Breakfast in a Bottle. I used maple sap as the water in my boil, and the batch seemed to turn out great. I read that if I boiled my 12oz of maple syrup in the boil it would leave a woodsy flavor but the sugar would be fermented up in the primary. I opted...
