Custom Beer Tap Handle with Lithophane

If you are interested in an incredible, unique, tap handle for your kegerator you should try to make one with lithophane, using a 3-D printer. Or, like me, have a very cool brother who can make some for you. He has provided instructions at printables.com (Printables) for anyone interested. As...

Illinois Free Bottles in Central Illinois

Free beer bottles for homebrewers. I have enough for three 5-gallon batches of beer. There are enough large bottles for one batch and enough small bottles for two batches (with a few flip-top bottles included).

    efficiency solved

I'm the originator of this particular thread and must admit, I haven't been stirring. So I took the advice to heart. I added two teaspoons of gypsum instead of one and stirred real well before sparging. It did the trick. Now I feel silly for not doing it before. Gracias!!!!

    efficiency solved

My PH is often around 6 and I have been adding some gypsum but I didn't see any significant effects until heating up the mash.

    efficiency solved

After a long bout with poor efficiencies I finally solved the problem. Heat the entire mash up to about 160 and then sparge. I read everything that I could about low efficiency but nothing mentioned seemed to work. I milled correctly, ensuring that I used a gauge to set my mill correctly. I...

    Remove ball lock fitting?

As you can tell from my question, I'm new to kegging. But I refuse to be embarassed and will go ahead and ask my newbee question. Do I have to remove the ball lock fitting from the end of my line to use a handpump cleaning system for my beer lines? I thought it would be easy. I poured in the...

    Strainers For 5 Gallon Buckets

After reading "Brewing Great Beers," I have come to the realization that my hop utilization has not been that great. So I planned to stop using hop bags but worried about the excess trub and resulting loss of beer. This sounds like a way to have my hops and drink them too! I'll give them a try.

    APO friendly suppliers

That is odd. I use APO AE as well and it was almost $18 for about 13 lbs. I'll play around with addresses and see if it was just a glitch when I tried it.

    APO friendly suppliers

Thanks cpl-american, Unfortunately Homebrewing.org is like the other suppliers and only ship USPS, which is $8 more than other shipping methods. Australia might work except I'm in Ghana. There aren't many direct flights so it would be long trip that way. Since it cost about $19 for...

    APO friendly suppliers

Anyone know of any APO friendly suppliers on the east coast or in the Midwest that have shipping cost that are similar to regular addresses? I can find plenty of good suppliers to get supplies from via my very slow non-APO address and that works great for most of my needs. But by the time...

    Greyish Black Starter- Thames Valley

Has anyone experienced a very dark starter. I am using Wyeast Thames Valley. I burned a bit of the malt on the bottom of my beaker, but after things settled it came out a medium brown color after finishing the boil. The next morning it turned greyish black and has now cleared to a dark coffee...

    neck/cap size

Does anyone know the neck ring size for bottles in different regions of the world? I have moved to Fiji to work for a few years and have discovered that their beer is not so great and have had to get back to home brewing. Since my bottles are in storage I had to drink several cases of Fiji Gold...

    Liquid extract shipping

Has anyone ever experienced a leakage of liquid extract shipped by mail? There are no home brew shops where I live (Fiji) and the extract has to travel a long way to get to me. Thanks, Kevin
